Why Custom Photography?
You are the keeper of their wishes, cheerleader of their dreams, protector from monsters under their beds, kisser of their boo-boos, maker of their memories, creator of their magic, and their hero. And this wear-your-heart-on-your-sleeve love should be documented and passed down from generation to generation.
Whitney Elizabeth Portraiture offers several different types of sessions to accommodate the needs, wants, and styles of each individual family. Please read below for more information on WEP's services and offerings. Please don't hesitate to reach out via email if you have any questions.
1. Pre-session consultation
All sessions (except holiday mini sessions) include an in-person or phone consultation to discuss the time and location of your session, wardrobe styling, and what to expect during and after the session.
Typically, in-person consultations are conducted in your home and it provides a wonderful opportunity for Whitney to meet your family before the session and discover which products you're interested in: albums, prints, wall galleries, framing options, fine art canvases, and more.
A non-refundable session fee and signed model release is due at the time of booking to hold your session date. CT state sales tax is applicable on all services, products, and deliverables.
2. Your session!
Sessions are typically scheduled mid-morning or early afternoon and never during nap time! Sessions take place on location or in your home, where your family is most comfortable.
What is included in the session fee?
The session fee includes Whitney's time and talent to photograph the session and edit your beautiful images, a pre-session consultation, and a custom proofing and ordering appointment in your home. All prints and products are sold a la carte.
What happens if my child is sick?
Let Whitney know as soon as possible and we will reschedule for the next convenient date.
How far do you travel for sessions and is there a travel fee?
No travel fee is assessed for sessions taking place in CT. Contact Whitney for more details for travel to other New England states. As a former resident of Charlotte, NC and Santa Barbara, CA, Whitney frequently travels to visit family, friends, and clients. If you're interested in a session and schedule a minimum of four sessions for family/friends, then no travel fee will be assessed. This is popular for holiday card photo sessions so please inquire in advance.
How far in advance should I book my session?
Whitney typically books four to six weeks in advance and up to eight to ten weeks during busy summer and fall seasons.
How soon after the session do I get to see my images?
In-home proofing and ordering sessions are typically booked two to four weeks after your photo session.
How much is the session fee?
Family session sitting fee (up to five people) is $300, beach session sitting fee (offered in CT, RI, and MA) is $350, and newborn and maternity session sitting fees are $400. Whitney also offers a baby plan that captures the newborn phase, six to seven months milestone, twelve months, and eighteen months. Baby plans are limited so please inquire about pricing and availability.
3. Custom in-home proofing and ordering session
A few weeks after your session, Whitney or her proofing consultant will come to your home and play a beautiful slideshow of your images set to music. After the slideshow, we will go through the images one by one and determine which images you'd like to purchase for your album, prints, wall gallery, etc. This is a fun process and usually takes about an hour to make your selections. Gift prints are available for purchase from $35, fine art wrapped canvases from $325, and heirloom keepsake albums from $425.
